The Village of Great Neck Plaza (VGNP), one of nine villages on the Great Neck peninsula, was incorporated in 1930. Centrally located in the heart of the peninsula, VGNP encompasses a busy commercial district, three parks and a residential section comprised of many multiple dwellings and private homes with approx. 7,000 inhabitants. Although geographically only a third of a square mile, VGNP boasts a vibrant downtown with a railroad station (Great Neck Branch of the LIRR), 260 retail stores, boutiques and service establishments, 90 multiple-family apartment buildings, 148 single-family homes, 40 office buildings, 2 four star hotels, a nursing home, a senior independent living facility and one assisted-care senior living facility. VGNP maintains a staff of approximately 28 persons.
